Relics of Witney Limited
Bringing a treasure trove of a shop to the World Wide Web!
Relics of Witney is a shop situated on the high street of the Oxfordshire Cotswold market town of Witney. It’s an Aladdin’s cave bursting with hardware, paints, wallpapers, ironmongery and other useful but beautiful accessories.
Olamalu were delighted to create a website and an online shop for this gorgeous little outlet.
Imagery was key. This shop has an extensive product range and customers need to see every item available. Updates to the products need to be quick and easy for Relics of Witney so that the site really is a virtual version of their real shop. It’s also vital that stock levels in the back office keep in sync with the website.
With a backend system containing 10,000 products and thousands of images, the website needed a sensible integration to pull product information and book orders.
Our solution and the result
A site beautifully designed using rustic imagery of the real shop. Relics of Witney takes great pride in their visuals and one of their team, Lee Churchill, takes all the beautiful photographs which keep the site looking consistent and beautiful. The idea was to make the site feel like you are stepping into this treasure trove of a shop for real – wherever you are. The site is divided into decorating, hardware, interiors and sealing & finishing.
The search and product categories are driven by the powerful Google-like Apache Solr search engine to ease the organisation of such a wide, varied range of products.
With the ability to feed product information from the underlying systems, the product range remains up to date and fit to bursting. Happy shopping!
