A fresh approach to learning
Headington School is a prestigious independent girls school in Oxford. Founded in 1915, it has a long history of providing an outstanding educational experience to give pupils the best start in life.
Headington approached Olamalu to build them a website which would showcase the beliefs and values of the Headington School experience to parents and prospective pupils. The site would also be an important information tool for existing pupils and their families.
The site needed to navigate clearly between the different aspects of school life at Headington. From the nursery through to sixth form as well as clearly house the important information relating to each of these stages.
Design wise, the approach needed to be fresh and vibrant but still respect the traditional values deeply rooted in the history of the school.
Our solution and the results
Joining forces with design agency Franks and Franks, Olamalu focused on the all important customer requirements of the site. The flow and navigation were worked through and functionality and ease of use, as always, were front of mind. The result is a site, which navigates beautifully through a considerable amount of information, but cleverly doesn’t overwhelm the user. The challenge is to manage different brands for different parts of the site. There is a large amount of information to present including news, blog, calendar, notifications, fixtures and results, which need to be integrated with the school's internal system.
In 2015, Headington celebrates its 100th anniversary. Olamalu worked with Franks and Franks to produce the Headington 100 site, which manages the 100th anniversary with events, ticketing and merchandise celebrating Headington throughout the decades.
