Blog: Winning a bottle of champagne

Do you ever go to events and put your business cards in the big bowl.  We do go to events, but never bother with the business card bit.  That's because we never win.  Granted, the bowl of contacts is a good idea (perhaps we should do it too), but it doesn't help us unluckies.

Today we went to Witney's Big Breakfast first ever trade fair.  It was at Langdale Hall and there must have been about 30 local Oxfordshire businesses strutting their stuff.  It was brilliant.  Partly because we didn't expect to come home with any business - weird that may sound.  It's the first time it's been held and so we weren't sure how much of Jo business public may be aware of it.  However we shouldn't have been so gloomy because we did get at least 2 websites out of it.  That's not bad for an afternoon and paying £20 for a stand.

Anyway, the story isn't there.  The story is in our bottle of champagne.

As we packed up I went to chat to Clive Taylor from Total Credit Management.  Now, this is a guy you need when you customers aren't paying you.  He spent the afternoon on the phone chasing 400 bad debtors (and in the mean time chatting to passers by about what he did).  I think he was busy.

"Clive," I said looking at his stand, "who won that bottle of champagne?"

Clive stopped for a second (he didn't have the glass bowl of business cards).  "I think you did if I have your business card somewhere."

He didn't have to ask twice.  I pulled out my card and slapped it on the table.  We went through the charade of pulling the card from a bag and I was very excited to have won.  OK, I didn't really win, but I still came home with a nice bottle of champagne thanks to Total Credit Management.

By the way, as a little thank you, let me say that if you're ever looking for someone in Witney, Oxfordshire to collect your debts or manage your credit processes, you'd do no better than to visit Clive's Witney Credit Management and Debt Collection website.  Ho hum.
